We want you to feel informed and confident as you begin your healing journey. Below are answers to the most common questions we hear from new patients.

Frequently Asked Questions About Acupuncture

Does acupuncture hurt?

Not at all. Most patients feel little to no discomfort. Our acupuncture needles are extremely thin—about the width of a human hair—and gently inserted by skilled practitioners.
We use only high-quality, disposable needles from South Korea or Japan to ensure your safety and comfort.

Everyone responds differently, but most of our patients notice improvement during or shortly after their first visit. Acute conditions often improve quickly, while chronic issues may take a few sessions to show lasting change.

Acupuncture works cumulatively—regular sessions bring steady, long-term relief.

It depends on your condition, health history, and goals. Here’s a general guide:

  • Acute conditions: 1–3 sessions for noticeable improvement
  • Chronic conditions: 5+ sessions, followed by maintenance care
  • Fertility & hormonal support: often requires ongoing, cycle-based treatment

Combining acupuncture with herbal medicine may speed up your results.

To get the most from your treatment:

  • Wear loose-fitting clothes or shorts
  • Avoid brushing your tongue (we use its coating for diagnosis)
  • Skip makeup—your face helps us assess internal health
  • Avoid caffeine before your visit
  • Eat a light snack and stay well hydrated
  • Reschedule in case of flu-like symptoms

No. While both involve needles, dry needling is not acupuncture and is not performed by licensed acupuncturists trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is a holistic system focused on restoring balance—not just releasing muscle knots.

No. Acupressure uses manual pressure on points, but it doesn’t achieve the same clinical depth as acupuncture. Acupuncture requires formal training, licensure, and involves precise needle stimulation that affects your body’s internal systems.
